Perhaps feds needed little of the actual information Weiselberg could provide and are really just securing his testimony - both to put pressure on Cohen and as a predicate for a run at Trump directly.
The best part: this investigation is entirely separate from Mueller's.

I mean, there's a chance the feds are giving out immunity and extreeeeemely light plea deals to Cohen, Pecker and Weiselman to cut to the chase and roll up a prosecution of Trump alone no matter how many smaller fries get off easy.

It's possible Weiselberg's immunity is more limited and his grand jury testimony covered only specific topics like the hush money payoffs.
