GOP thought leader Erick Erickson wants the US to support the next wave of Pinochet dictators.

Inadvertently, he highlights the moral duty to aid refugees fleeing violence the US ignited.

Pinochet was one of many CIA backed fascists, who tortured or murdered 30,000 Chileans.
The CIA backed a Pinochet lead Chilean coup in 1973. He tortured 30,000 Chileans, and murdered over 2,000. He threw people out of helicopters. He killed a former diplomat and 2 bystanders in a car bomb in DC.
A direct line to violence refugees flee today.

It’s important to note that Erickson is a #NeverTrump Republican. He frequents Meet the Press.

He also advocates supporting murderous fascist dictators as long as they impose free market reforms.

We need to be careful who we get into bed with.

The Trump admin cut the advertising budget for the ACA by 90%.

FOIA obtained emails show this was knowingly designed to harm enrollment, and they repeatedly lied about that fact.

Dem House oversight puts an end to the sabotage. Remember what they did when they had the power.
On a call w/ reporters, in response to whether HHS had studied the efficacy of advertising, an official said, “We haven’t done a specific study related to the public awareness of the program.”

It was a lie. They had, & knew it would harm enrollment.

Now that Dems have won House oversight, she’s promoting enrollment. Oversight stops the sabotage.

"We have a moral duty to aid the weak and the oppressed." Compelling.

"We have no right to control our own borders if the right age-and-sex mix appears there." Self-evidently stupid and counterproductive.
Arguments are not won purely on merit, but on the manner in which they're proposed and argued.
This is especially true with matters in which the moving party seeks to have our laws, if not suspended, then at least highly-charitably enforced and interpreted: If you want to make a case that our immigration law as it exists is immoral, you can't simply hand-wave at it.

Some, like their adult counterparts, don't care.

1. Props for the word play, but @RichLowry relegating outrage and opposition to Trump as a maneuver torn from a political playbook is recklessly obtuse.

2. He's absolutely right that the #Democrats need to focus on policy issues, but in ADDITION TO not INSTEAD OF Trump's actions and investigations. And, yes, in the 2016 election we failed to do that. Consistently unsettled by his behavior, we were stuck against the ropes.
3. It's not easy. As a voice of political activism, it's overwhelming. Keeping actionable focus on policy while still giving perspective and analysis on the inevitable 'shock of the day' feels like herding cats, but risking the normalization of the Trump era is unconscionable.
