Actually, it took him quite a long time. He accepted collusive pre-election assistance from an Israeli government-linked "business intel" firm run by Joel Zamel and has furthered Israel's interests in the region (including a reconstituted GCC run by Saudi Arabia) for three years.
2/ He—directly or indirectly—instructed Flynn to illegally negotiate with Israel pre-inauguration; Kushner angrily threw a wrench into Middle East peace talks to preserve the status quo for Netanyahu... sorry, but it's a bad take to ignore the longstanding Trump-Israeli alliance.
3/ It's understandable that Americans who broadly support Israel are angry at Trump for his Syria "plan." What isn't OK is for journalists of any stripe to—in expressing that anger—change history in a way that'll make taking Trump to task for his pre-election collusion(s) harder.
4/ It's not inconsistent with support for Israel to say that Netanyahu's far-right government appears to have illegally colluded with Trump pre-election because it preferred his policies to Hillary Clinton's. Trump is betraying that conspiracy now—but he delivered a *lot*, first.
5/ I worry that in their anger over Trump's demand that America withdraw from Syria, leftists will do enormous damage to the *facts and history* on the Trump-Israeli relationship, which (as to Netanyahu, who is a crook) was collusive. Nothing Trump is doing now changes that. /end
PS/ Why does Trump want to pull out of Syria? Because when you collude pre-election with Russia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Hungary and Israel, of *course* the interests of those nations won't always align and you'll betray one for another. This time he betrayed Israel for Russia.
