1/ The team is in #Eastbourne #Wetherspoons. Within 5 mins of arriving a bitter faced woman comes up to me & orders me "not to disrupt the event or she will vote Leave again in a #PeoplesVote"
I asked her if she was threatening me? 🤔
(At least she is thinking about another vote)
2/ absolutely packed full in #Eastbourne #Wetherspoons. Some holding @LeaveMnsLeave placards. Everyone squeezed in like sardines. I heard a lady whining that Remainers had come. Someone else pulled a pro EU badge off my guitar case and slipped it into their pocket (Beats me?)🤷🇪🇺
3/This lady asks what facts Tim has to show food prices won't rise as a result of #Brexit, as evidenced by the various "commentaries" he dismisses. He claims we don't need to charge tarrifs on anything & then food prices will drop, @Jim_Cornelius taking him to task on his lies
4/ local GP asks what is going to happen to UK farmers if we crash out on #NoDeal & the #EU imposes 40% tarrifs on exports? Tim Martin doesn't think they will. He says Theresa May should have taken up Tusk's Canada+++ offer & farmers want #Brexit (even though the NFU oppose it)
5/ "The mistake @theresa_may made was to "prioritise getting a deal. If we crash out on #NoDealBrexit we save £30bn. We have no financial obligation to pay & I don't think we have a moral obligation to cough up £600 per person to Brussels... now onto fishing!" #Wetherspoons
6/Immigration debate turns nasty.
Tim Martin claims "unelected officials" impose immigration laws: Freedom of Movement allows #EUcitizens to live here & claim "more social benefits" after 3 months.
We dispute but he "doesn't want to bore the audience" with arguments about the law
7/ last question: "what will happen to small companies that fail as a result of 3-5 years of uncertainty?" Tim Martin replies "I don't believe they will fail. But we can agree to disagree. Thanks everyone for coming debate is really important."

8/ The pro #EU contingent outside #Wetherspoons in #Eastbourne! Well done team! @peoplesvoteeas1 🇪🇺🇬🇧👏 I would strongly urge all Remainers to turn up for their local Wetherspoons sesh and give Tim Martin some grief (& some facts although he won't listen to them!)

1/Confronting Tim Martin in #Wetherspoons:
The clip cuts out, but I pointed out that UK economy has dropped to bottom of G7 & experienced 2.1% impact to GDP as a result of fall in Sterling.
Tim told me that I was wrong - he has his own "#AlternativeFacts" 🙄

2/ This is after I showed Tim Martin my #24ReasonstoRemain booklet & asked him "If 95% of this legislation has been passed by our democratically elected UK MEPs - how can you tell people we have lost Sovereignty when it also says in the #Brexit white paper that we never did?"
3/ @Nigel_Farage did exactly the same thing when I confronted him with the same argument about #EU democracy in a pub in Place Lux. He squealed "Elected MEPs have no power - they're just an upper chamber" and ran away. 🙄

Arrived at #Wetherspoons in MCR. Tim Martin arrives 10 mins late & tells us "he is going to give us a talk". I thought this was supposed to be a #Brexit debate? 🤔 "Metropolitan elites are pushing for a deal we don't need & if we crash out on #NoDeal we will avoid paying £39bn"
I just had to point out to Tim that it is our own government who hasn't been implementing EU laws on controlling migration and hasn't properly documented #EUcitizens living in the UK, as they do in other EU countries.
He just admitted he needs to go back and "check his books." 🙄
This woman quite rightly pointing out that if we don't pay the £39bn financial obligation... then who else is going to pay @Nigel_Farage's pension? 🤔 Tim says his research hasn't led him to any answers.

The 'conversion rate' (CR) is the proportion of the online audience that clicks on an online ad. It is commonly accepted that CRs are approx. 10% of the ppl who see a political ad. The idea is to get ppl to the 'landing page' (the site to which that ads are directed).

2.
Once on the landing page, 10% will believe the messages on it are factual. 10% of that number is persuaded to do something based on the messages they have been directed to, and now believe to be true.

Thanks. My first non- abusing Brexiter (although wavering) reply, 36 mins after I observed the absence of such! Unfortunately for the debate I still don’t see any rational evidence-based arguments as to why Brexit won’t be as bad as I fear. But a few replies...
I agree, after a lifetime in capital markets, that capital misallocation is a problem. But that has nothing at all to do with Brexit. UK allowed it’s Banks to lever 100x causing the credit crunch which resulted in austerity.

So what’s up with Brexit? Unfortunately, this is going to be long.
1. We had a non-binding referendum where the option to leave one by less than 4%
2. The PM Conservative @David_Cameron who called the referendum and said he would stay on to oversee its outcome, promptly resigned
3. The Conservative party selected another PM Theresa May who very soon expressed a determination to adopt the hardest breaks it and started hedging it about with egregious red lines. This being way beyond any reasonable mandate granted by the marginal referendum “win”.
4. May couldn’t find a way forward so in 2017 she called an election as a result of which she lost her majority.
