Even if every Republican politician were to come out and denounce Steve King, their empty words will never remove the stink of white supremacism now. If nothing else, the Trump era has ripped the masks off. We see you now. Words won’t fix it.
If Republicans wanted to show they were not the party of racism, they had a great chance to do that.

They could have voted to stop Donald Trump.

They didn't.
It's always good to see conservatives speak out against Trump, or people like Steve King. But why do so many of them blow it by whining about being "falsely accused," or constructing dumbass tortured arguments that try to blame Trump on liberals who were too mean?
It's almost as if on some level they understand that they're making bullshit arguments to shore up an unsupportable ideology.
