BREXIT: Here's an idea - maybe a bad one - what if a MP put forward a Bill to enshrine an alternate version of the Irish backstop in UK law? The speaker picks it, it passes. [CONT...] 
2/ PM could go to Brussels, point to the ratified 'Irish backstop Act' and say - look, you wanted a backstop, you have one. To be undone, a majority of MPs would have to vote for it to be repealed. [Cont]
3/ Since no Parliament can bind its successor, MPs would know it wouldn't need to last forever. But since it would need a majority in both houses to undo, the EU would know that it couldn't just be dropped unilaterally when convenient. [Cont]
4/ the Uk could then set up a panel of experts - from the WCO, CLECAT, WTO, UN and lawmakers from NI and ROI to report annually how efforts to ensure no hard border are going. When they give it the greenlight, MPs could discuss repealing the backstop act. /End
