THREAD: Trump has no regard for truth, & no sense of honor. To prepare for his inevitable gaslighting, deflection & BS at the #SOTU, it’s important to remember all the lies & empty promises. (Graphics from @amprog.)

1. Remember how Trump didn’t have anything to do with Russia?

2. Trump said he was headed to Washington to drain the swamp. Instead, he had overseen the single most corrupt administration in American history.

3. It’s laughable in retrospect that people fell for Trump’s promises that he would help the middle and working class. Trump has always sought wealth and power, and the #GOPTaxScam was a dream come true for him, his friends and his family.

4. Trump has completely demolished the world’s faith in America as a protector of freedom. No longer that shining city on a hill, we’re now a dark, rising autocracy - more allied with dictators and tyrants than liberal democracies.

5. Who actually ever thought that Trump would release his tax returns? It was clearly a false promise. House Ways and Means now has the ability to subpoena them. #ElectionsHaveConsequences

6. Trump said he would fight for the LGBTQ community, but that community has been continuously under siege from the Trump-Pence administration.

7. “$1 Trillion to rebuild America! Just kidding! $2 Trillion for my billionaire buddies and corporations! Oh, and I’m gonna have to steal your earned benefits to pay for that.”

9. As the uninsured rates are ballooning and premiums rise, remember this nifty little promise from candidate Trump. Since taking office & after the resistance fought off full ACA repeal, Trump has been working to ensure that Obama’s signature achievement dies of a thousand cuts.

10. Trump is abandoning allies left and right while supporting the strategic aims of corrupt regimes. Americans are an afterthought to Trump. Putin is our actual Commander-in-Chief (see: INF nuclear treaty withdrawal).

11. At one point, Trump actually pretended to care about people in poverty and the African-American community. Laughable from the billionaire-boosting white supremacist.

12. From Day One, Trump turned his back on Dreamers. The only support he has ever shown them is empty words, scattered among the race-baiting rhetoric and policy policy attacks of the Sessions DOJ.

14. Millions of Americans continue to be underemployed - working multiple jobs to make ends meet. Trump’s visions is actually an economy that is in service to - not propelled by - the richest of the rich.

15. “We have to be great stewards of this land. This is magnificent land.”

Trump and Zinke started right out of the gate with an agenda of reducing the size and scale of our sacred public lands to exploit and pillage them for their resources.

16. Of course the supposed billionaire couldn’t self-finance his campaign. Whatever assets he does have are thanks to Russian bailouts. So Trump was happy to rely heavily on megadonors like the NRA (ok, that’s Russian money too...).

17. “I will take care of women. I have great respect for women.” Oy.

Trump only attacks women. But women were never gonna sit back & let that happen (see: Womxn’s Marches, #MeToo, our new blue Congress, @SpeakerPelosi🕶). This genie’s out of the bottle. And she’s piiiiiiissed.

18. “Crystal clear water & immaculate air”? The EPA is now the Environmental Pollution Agency, deregulating industry wherever it can & ensuring that our air and water are as dirty as Trump is.

So when you hear snippets of Trump’s #SOTU drivel & you’re tempted to take his words at face value: don’t. He doesn’t mean them. In fact - he probably doesn’t know what a lot of them mean. Trump will keep attacking America until he’s removed from or voted out of office. Period.
