Let me tell you something about the Hausa/ fulani tribe from personal experience. They have mastered the attitude and the road to success in Nigeria.

A simple yet complicated path in this present day Nigeria.

We southerners believe so much in academic excellence and certificates. We want to acquire all the degrees, bragging rights or needless competition amongst peers. While the average northerner will join NNPC as a clerk and start his/her career early..

the southerner or westerner will be aiming for two masters degree so that he can be employed as a manager. At the end of the day, he ends up with nothing. The northerners will join the Federal civil service at a young age at the minimum entry level..

They continue the academic pursuit and grow within the ranks year on year. They have realized that the system needs early introduction and their are avenues to acquire degrees while working..
They know the engine of the country and where to quickly insert themselves..

Did anyone of you on this TL enlist to join immigration service after university? Is there westerner here with the dream of becoming a Road safety Marshall? First choice rather than an after thought..

We see the civil service as inferior. We want the banks, the ICT companies..

Asides the military I haven't come across a westerner who voluntarily enlisted for the civil defence corp. After university, how many of us actually tried joining the custom service.. I remember my friend told me he was going to enlist in the military, military with Bokoharam?

We all want the big degrees, white collar, suit and tie..These northerners enlist themselves in the customs, Navy, civil service, Army, Immigration, road safety and all. These are the pillars of the nation, for now! The northerners know the structure of the country..

They have mastered the road to power and national relevance. The average northerner starts his career with SSCE , gets a job then rise through the ranks..he will gather the necessary experience then continue to further his/her education till he gets to the top.

The average westerner starts with a Masters degree and a PHD at 35 years. We spend so much fortune on degrees which do not matter to the Nigerian 'structure'. We want to be professors, in all honesty are you as important as the IG of police or comptroller General of customs?

The average westerner/ their parents will reject an offer to join the civil service they will rather pray for a job in a bank. Please visit any westerner in high position to help you with a decent job, the response will be ahh you don't have a masters oo. Go for your masters..

Masters degree at $60,000, oga where will i get that from ( ask them who you epp ). The hausa man will ask you if you can work as an office Assistant at least he will offer you a post if any is available. He will get you into the system, nepotism is a subject for another day.

I am yoruba, but my Kaftan and Hausa cap with the little hausa greetings I understand makes me feel at home with hausas, the cap alone is a pass..if you know you know.
