With UKIP bloviating about "martial law", this is what John Major *actually said* on the @MarrShow. Whatever its drawbacks, what he's suggesting would not be anti-democratic. On the contrary, it would recognise that no single party had a democratic mandate to rule untrammeled.1/2
It's worth reiterating: the 2016 referendum gave no mandate for *any* particular *form* of Brexit. So that either has to be decided by MPs - which, in a hung Parliament, must mean working across party lines - or by going back to the public for more precise instructions. 2/2
