I *know* what’s sensible isn’t what happens in Brexit... but what sensible options are available now?
May’s Deal unamended is not available. It has no majority. ⛔️
No Deal, as default, happens if nothing is agreed. But it is not sensible, for it causes enormous economic and political damage. ⛔️
Agreeing something akin to Labour’s Brexit plan, and doing so under duress now isn’t sensible *either* - it’s not been tested against reality in 🇪🇺 negotiations. With long delay, OK. But not now. ⛔️
That leaves us with only 2 options that are in any way sensible...
May’s Deal plus a Confirmatory Referendum (and a delay long enough to do it). We know what it entails. And it could probably command a majority in the Commons. ✅
Revoke Article 50, and take a very long break to work out what to do. Take months, even years, to work out how/if to do Brexit. Probably a majority for it - if No Deal danger present. ✅
