Donald Trump says everyone he saw was happy with him.
He's a brief thread of pictures from yesterday of the ones I saw that weren't...
#TrumpUKvisit #TrumpProtest #TrumpNotWelcome #Trump
And some more
I wished this one has been CGI. I don't think it was though.
There were a few people there
Not sure about the Spandex...
No idea what this guy was on about - his message didn't seem positive though.
Knitters against Trump!
I hope he didn't get upset when people laughed at his small hands...
Loving the diversity of the protesters
So many incentive home made signs
Buy your Trump toilet paper here...
Lock him up!
A few more
And some more
Playing with words
Trump has pissed off Grandma!
The front of the main march arriving at Parliament Square
The crowds stretched most of the way down Whitehall.
The massive balloons mostly seem to belong to trade unions.
A few more signs - excrement seemed to be a popular theme...
It's this meant to be Pokémon? Or Top Trumps? He's definitely not a top Trump...
The Handmaid's Tale
Statue of Liberty
A lot of detail in some of the placards
Donald's Barnet was another recurring theme
#trumpstinks - part of a bigger group of protesters looking as though they were ready to do some asbestos disposal work
Some people are saying he isn't our president, so why should we care - but bar significant changes to the law he's out by 2024 at the latest.
For us though, he is encouraging #Brexit - the effects of which will last for many many more years.
Oh - I finally spotted Donald - he didn't wave to me though.
His motorcade went from Downing Street down Whitehall (completely closed to the public for the day) onto Great George Street, where he briefly passed the protesters in Parliament Square.
It's 80m along that side of Parliament Square. Most people didn't know he was about to appear until the first cars came speeding past.
Lets say he stayed within the speed limit at 30mph.
That's 5.97 seconds it took him to pass the one bit where he was anywhere near the public
Perhaps he was checking his hair - or looking the other way.
It took less than 6 seconds for him to pass the protest - but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.
Perhaps he should walk around and chat to people next time?
There were some pro-Trump protesters - about 8 in total, with 3x as many police surrounding them.
We're they the ones Trump saw?
Unlikely.
Finally:
Some signs were more of a statement about their owners than any particular comment on Trump.
A great anti-Brexit banner from Best for Britain.
A lot of spare placards at the start.
Whatever your reason for being anti-Trump there was probably one that would cover it (as long as you don't mind temporarily appearing to be affiliated to SWP...)
No trip to this corner of London is complete without taking a wander down to the SODEM protest that will be there whatever the weather, even though the pro-Brexit crew have long since gone home.
Old Palace Yard is looking very empty with no temporary TV studios.
Clearly they don't think much is going to be happening in parliament in the foreseeable future. Lucky @donaldtusk who said to use the extension time wisely can't see this 🙄
And that's just about it.
Spotted a protester on their way home on the tube with their placards
Overall a good event, and a reasonable turnout for a weekday.
But Donald didn't see it. It was a welcoming party.
Any suggestion to the contrary is fake news 🙄
