Ancient India was not purely religious. If You see main Hindu Scriptures like Vedas, Upnishad, and Samhita they are collection of philosophies, scientific data and facts. They worshipped nature and were experts in Science, astronomy, mathematics.

Just because the language is Sanskrit, Leftists reject it to be unscientific and religiously motivated.
In recent time ie last few hundred years, many distortion n misinterpretation has been done too and readers who don't know Sanskrit tend to believe it.
Let's dive in brief

#RigVeda: It's full of the geographical data about India. Research on Rig Veda have proven and can be further verified that Our Civilization was River based and most important one was Saraswati. We worshipped nature. eg Agni, Varun, Indra.

#Sushruta Samhita: Western Studies have itself proved that This Scripture can be termed as most ancient Medical Journal and reference book. for eg, This book explains human body, talks about surgical procedures, Gives a list of surgical instruments which are even used today.

#Ayurveda Correct me if I'm wrong but it is said to be extracted from Atharva Veda. It is a collection of Naturopathy and Journal on "How to use nature for treatment of our ailments". See! Nothing religious in it. @yogrishiramdev @Ach_Balkrishna

#Patanjali Yog Sutra: It is collection of Yogic procedures created and compiled by Sage Patanjali. He is also known as Father of Yoga. Now Yoga has different branches. Trantra Yog, Dhyan Yog, Karma Yog and more. But even as a Non Hindu, You can follow The book for medical purpose

#SuryaSidhhanta: Created by Great Scientist & architect Mayasur(Demon king and Father in law of Ravana), This is reference book for all astronomical Researchers of ancient times. The information and facts in the book on planetary movements and mathematics will surprise u.

#Agastya Samhita: Sage Agastya is most prominent Scientist of ancient South India. He was an expert in Weaponry, Chemistry and much more. He provided divine weapons to Ram and Laxman for fighting Ravana and his Army. Mostly known today for invention of Battery. @Iyervval

#Ramayana: Written by Sage Valmiki (Shudra by birth), Ramayana is a historical record of 12000 BCE India which revolves around life of Rama and Ravana. It tells us many minute details about planetary conditions of that time, geography, Socio political details.

#Mahabharata: Written by Vyas Dwaipayana, This is again a historical record of 5500 BCE India revolving around Kuru Kingdom. It gives very detailed description of Sociopolitical conditions of India at that period. There are 300+ Astronomical reference in that era.

#BhagwadGita: Narrated by Lord Krishna, king of Dwarka and compiled by Vyasa, This is most prominent book of Sanatana Culture. It gives life laws, Karma Yoga philosophy. A must read book, I say. Sri Ravi Shankar rightly terms Krishna as first Communist in true sense.

#Parashar was a sage coming from genealogy of Sage Vashishta. He is author of many Scriptures and also know as author of Vimana Shastra. The book even gives description of Metals and alloys used in aircraft and even recommends food for pilot. @HindolSengupta

Our Gods can be questioned too. They aren't free from faults but We worship them for their qualities. Some examples:
Indra: Rain God & Termed as Devraj
Agni: Fire God
Vishwakarma: Architect God
Varun: Ocean and Water God
Kamdev: God of Compassion and love

We have been worshipping Nature not because we are regressive but because we acknowledge their importance in our life.
River Saraswati, Ganga, Yamuna, Narmanda, and Samudra Dev are worshipped because our Civilization was established around them. @davidfrawleyved

Tulsi and Hemp are termed with Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva because they are most important herbs in Ayurveda. #Hemp is considered as base content of Ayurvedic medicines. Similarly There are many trees which are worshipped. This shows our bond with nature.
