In honor of the #LaborDay2019 , here are some immigrants and/or POC* laboring mightily in #immigrationlaw, policy, & media you should know about.

Be sure to give them a follow if you don't already!

*I'll try not to make this too New England-centric, but probably will anyway
Let's start with a hometown hero:

Antonio Massa Viana (@MassaVianaLaw) was the 1st undocumented immigrant admitted to practice as a lawyer in #Massachusetts. He demonstrates total dedication to his local Brazilian community and beyond every day.

Hassan Ahmad (@HMAesq) is an incredible advocate in his own right. But he's also doing vital work exposing John Tanton, the man whose white supremacist beliefs became the foundation for modern American nativism. (Also associate Humza Kazmi @Allandaros)

Sarah Betancourt (@sweetadelinevt) is a Boston-based investigative journalist currently at @CommonWealthMag. Her recent coverage of the fiasco around medical deferred action helped to force USCIS to reconsider its decision and reopen these critical cases.

My twitter pal Diego Aranda Teixeira (@DiegoATLAW) is a badass immigration lawyer who once earned himself a furious late-night call from #MichaelAvenatti, and that will never not be funny. He's also licensed to practice in New Zealand, for some reason

Not too many immigration attorneys in New Hampshire, but ACLU fellow @SangYeobKimACLU is doing more than his part to make up for that. He's done some of the best work of anyone out there on ICE custody issues. (Also don't miss Chilean native @heybramson)

If you follow anything to do with immigration you're already reading some of the leading journalists on the beat, but just take a second to double-check now to be sure that you follow @aurabogado, @Haleaziz, @MaryamSaleh, & @TheTinaVasquez. I won't tell anyone you weren't already
For the places where criminal and immigration law intersect ("crimmigration") check out Cesar Garcia Hernandez (@crimmigration, a handle of which I am of course not at all jealous) and @WaqarVick
Okay, that's a start. This is nowhere near a complete or comprehensive list of immigrants/POC working in and around U.S. #immigration law/policy/media, so please add to it as you think of people.

Happy Labor Day!
