Let me give you an example of the brazen hypocrisy of opposition parties & Bollywoodiyas. Royal Palms is located deep inside Aarey Colony, next to protected forest of SGNP. In 2009, Royal Palms built a 422 room hotel there. Who inaugurated it? The then CM 'Adarsh' Ashok Chavan!
Ashok Chavan inaugurated the hotel and Bollywood celebs attended the event. So building a luxury hotel right next to protected forest is acceptable to Congress & Bollywoodiyas, but they protest against Metro shed which is nowhere close to any forest.
And the light green patch in the upper right corner of pic 1 is a golf course. They built a GOLF COURSE spread over tens of acres right next to SGNP, but no Bollywoodiya or activist ever protested against it.
Went through the financials of 'Vanashakti' which is one of the key agitators against Metro. Here are the donations received by the NGO -

2013-14: ₹22.3 lakh
2014-15: ₹19.43 lakh

2016-17: ₹1.26 crore

Film City: Industrial Zone
Royal Palms: Residential Zone w/ compatible commercial use
Mint Green Area: NDZ (not ecologically sensitive)

What is NDZ? It is potentially developable land kept in abeyance for future development. 1991 DP included eco-sensitive land in NDZ. But the 2034 DP has created a separate Natural Area (NA) zone to categorize eco-sensitive. So the Aarey depot plot is NOT eco-sensitive area.
