If you want to know why the Pete Buttigieg misquote from the LA Times was so believable, you should read this interview with Pete in the New Yorker.

He often floats criticisms of Clinton and Obama because they play well in the Midwest with independents.

“You know, Democratic Presidents in my lifetime, Clinton and Obama both, I think, have been operating in a fundamentally conservative framework, and it’s something we should remember when we think about the shortcomings of the things that didn’t happen that we wish would.”
The reporter even asks him about a previous time when he’s been quoted as saying Clinton is to blame for Trump’s election.

“Well, you know, you said this very recently, to the Washington Post, I believe it was: Donald Trump got elected because, in his twisted way...”
“...he pointed out the huge troubles in our economy and in our democracy. At least he didn’t go around saying that America was already great, like Hillary did. Now, I know you’ve backtracked a little bit about that latter bit, but you’re saying something pretty large there.”
All the Pete 2020 folks getting agitated about me sharing actual quotes from Pete's interviews and then tagging their buddies to come pile on in my mentions are giving me serious Bernie bro 2016 flashbacks.

This is why we can't have nice things.
