1/ This Conservative party summary of EU state aid rules includes a false/misleading claim. It says that "aid must be approved by the EU institutions to be lawful", referring to Article 108 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU.

This is untrue, as there's an exception ->
2/ Here's Art 108. Para 4 allows for the adoption of block exemptions for notifying State aid: eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/…

They apply to SMEs, regional aid, training, research, transport, the environment, workers and more
3/ Around 95% of State aid measures don't have to be notified to the EU Commission - yet the Tories today claimed that all of them had to be. Please fact check them, @SebastianEPayne and other journos reporting this
