“The arrangements could see UK data swept back to servers in America and mined by algorithms written in Silicon Valley to develop new diagnostic tools and medical devices that would then be sold back to the NHS.”
Mr Winters said: “These digital chapters in US trade deals are written in Silicon Valley. You could end up where the UK is unable to analyse its health data without paying a royalty to Silicon Valley to use an algorithm.”
There Times points out: “The leaked papers were the same as those that revealed that UK negotiators were worried that the NHS might have to pay more for drugs under US plans for a trade deal.”
