Tory Landslide, Progressives Split | Datapraxis

This is fascinating. Whilst 700k-800k 2027 Lab Leave voters switched to Tory, 1.2 mill Lab Remain voters switched to remain parties.

So did 200k-250k Lab Leave voters. Bregretters?

@peterkyledataprax.is/tory-landslide…
2/ “Both of these switcher groups had very negative opinions of Jeremy Corbyn. Both Datapraxis research and other studies find that this is the most significant factor in Labour’s decline; the Opinium finding that a lack of trust in Corbyn’s leadership was the main factor”
3/. Including the c300k Labour Remainers who voted Conservative. They are first and foremost Corbynsceptics @wesstreeting
4/ It wasn’t even as though they rated Johnson well. They didn’t.
But the pressure on Tactical Voting was really immense when you see the level that would have been required to effect enough of a swing. An unrealistic expectation

Hence me constantly saying that TV without electoral Pacts and inter party cooperation (see BXP-Tory) isn’t enough
That should have been GE 2017 voters not 2027, of course.
This thread also by @DatapraxisEU @paulhilder also calls out the suggestion coming from the Labour leadership and HQ that even if they had pulled in the entire LD vote it would have made no difference.

It would. A lot. That requires electoral pacts.

Looking mostly at LEAVE voting areas..

There was a total of 28 seats, most in Leave areas. In almost all of these, thousands of Labour Remainers left the party.
“Facts are only your enemy if you have lost your compass.”

And one fact that is pretty clear when the shift of votes is examined clear sightedly is that it was NOT the #FinalSay policy that caused the Labour loss of seats.

A test of whether the moral compass IS lost.
I hope. I really hope that no one in Labour even thinks of saying to voters “It’s YOUR fault we didn’t win” in any shape or form.

That, too, is a sign of a loss of moral compass.
If you haven’t got the leadership, you haven’t got the policies, if your idea of a campaign is to refuse all electoral arrangements & try to shaft the parties where cooperation is most needed then responsibility for the consequences is located with the decision makers.
