Speaking of inflation in #Lebanon, two countries with recent experiences with double-digit inflation following currency floats are Russia and Egypt. And both managed to tame inflation relatively quickly b/c their central banks switched to credible inflation-targeting monetary pol 
But that meant policy rates had to rise drastically (by 11% in Russia, and 7% in Egypt) and stay high for a while. Taming inflation also rested on the credibility of the central banks and their independence from political interference.
In Lebanon, things are going to be complicated. Given current depreciation of LBP, we will surely have double-digit inflation. But will our CB have the credibility, discipline, and ability to tame that rise in prices quickly? @AndyKhalil1 @LeilaSayyed @sugargrizzly @dan_azzi
