There are not "more than seven million Palestinian refugees," @NZHerald.

Around 700,000 Palestinians were left homeless in 1948.

The children and grandchildren of refugees are not themselves refugees. Calling them refugees is quite simply false.
@nzherald A quick reminder: The world over a refugee is defined as "a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster."
@nzherald Regrettably, some may twist the definition of "refugee" for political means, weaponizing it against Israel. For them, Palestinians are in a class of their own. Rather than enabling their rehabilitation, they seek to keep Palestinians in permanent refugee status.
@nzherald While some may twist the definition of "refugee" for political means, the reality is that the term only applies to the first generation. And while the UN and others may carry gravitas, their mistake does not make the lie true.
@nzherald That's why we at HonestReporting call on the media and readers to be aware of the Halo Effect, and not treat the words of NGOs and others as divine. It's not and they're not.
