3) I very much support journalism. We are only asking big newspapers (the “papers of record”) to drop paywall for only articles on #COVID19 during epidemic until PHEIC is over. Not forever, not all articles. Encourage people to subscribe so reporters continue to bring good info🙏

CDC no longer disclosing the # of tests conducted anymore is worrisome. Though is it because most testing is now decentralized to local state labs? And hence testing counts no longer easy to aggregate in one tally? CDC needs to build the IT system to aggregate all data. #COVID19
2) CDC also just cancelled their press conference. Were they muzzled by WH or is it because of the flap over not reporting the testing counts on their website above? Reporters are baffled. #COVID19
3) Now an upset member of Congress, @repmarkpocan has written a letter to @CDCDirector demanding answers why the CDC has inexplicably removed # of #COVID19 tests🧪 performed. There are hundreds if not low thousand of cases undetected because of insufficient testing. #TESTVIRUSNOW

Payment of tests/care for #COVID19: “Under §70.13 @CDCDirector can authorize payment for care & treatment, although it's secondary to any state, local, or private insurance obligations” according to @alexandraphelan. What the chance @CDCgov Director will authorize it? Unclear.
2) @alexandraphelan adds: “The law provides for this (HC cost), and it's unethical for the US government to require individuals subjected to mandatory care & treatment to pay for it”

Oh gosh - first lung transplant done for a #COVID19 patient. Hope only a fraction of the 20% severe cases ever need this. Though there is currently 50% 28-day mortality if someone enters ICU (based on China data). But what % or total infected will need ICU? Unclear.
2) in earlier post, there was evidence that large # of critically ill needed a ventilator machine and for long duration. There’s barely enough ICU beds and ventilator machines for current patients in US. We are not ready. #COVID19
3) Stanford doctor @RoxanaDaneshjou correctly points out there is no evidence of lung tissue scarring from #COVID19. Thus patients may not need lung transplant. patient who got one (above) likely had other morbidities. We don’t have data on scarring yet.
