The reason you need to speak to a supervisor, if the advice is not followed, is because anyone that that (& maybe all) helpline advisor has spoken to today who provided appropriate symptom details should be traced and the advice changed.

It should be incident reported.

This is not to tell them off.

This is a learning tool for systematic case management.

We are all human. We all make mistakes.

This is a way of catching them early and correcting.

For the avoidance of doubt TODAY these are the geographical places referred to in the link. You should open it and double check as these could well change.

There are maps where necessary.

So.

IF epidemiological criterea are met
AND acute respiratory infection of ANY severity

OR a fever and no other symptoms

Test.

If NO epidemiological criteria

Requires admission to hospital
AND

clinical or radiological evidence of pneumonia.

OR
Acute respiratory distress syndrome

OR

Influenza like symptoms

Please note. These are the criteria as of 10/3/2020.

As data is constantly collected and analysed, remembering this is a new virus, these criteria may change.
