#RealInvestmentReport is out!
Despite the expected #surge in #inflation early in the week, #bulls picked themselves up to rally #stocks into Friday. We discuss the potential for a short-term #bounce, why the #Fed will make a #mistake, and #postioning now.

#LessonLearned - don't anticipate the turn in your #technicalsignals. As noted last week, it "seemed" the signal had turned, but it didn't. The #signal is very #oversold, so set up for a short-term #bounce is likely. Caution is still advised for now.

If we are #correct in our assessment about the roll-off #effect of #stimulus and #liquidity, we could well see #bonds outperform #stocks in 2022. We are watching very closely as we currently hold minimal duration in our fixed-income #portfolios.

Meanwhile in #France,
"the peak of this second wave is over"

(according to the President in his Adress to the Nation):
Wait... "the peak is over" doesn´t mean "it´s back to normal"!

Confinement will only fall on December 15,
if there´s less than 5.000 new cases a day.
(today it´s ~9.000).

France is disappointed.🙁

Although they certainly can make it happen.
Meanwhile in #Switzerland:
(excess mortality of the second wave is significant)

Good news: fastest decrease in infections happens in the worst hit areas now.

Given the #surge of #COVID19 in the US we need to focus on containing the pandemic. Here are some things we need
1. We need a #NationalPlan to combat this infection
- Right now we have 50 states doing 50 different things
2. Scale up testing
- Use of PCR, saliva, rapid, Ag
1/
3. Focus on community engagement at the local, state, and national level
- Empower communities and people to be proactive
4. Statewide #MaskMandates
5. Limitations on crowd and gathering sizes
6. Support of I&Q
- Paid sick leave, mental health, and healthcare
-Food delivery
2/
7. Scale up of contact tracing once we get case counts lower
8. Support for public health departments and schools so they can carry out recommendations
9. Support for heathcare workers who are burned out
10. Scale up PPE production
11. Financial support for small businesses

There is the plan to save lives and the economy.

It’s not my plan. It’s not @juliettekayyem. A consensus has formed across experts of various disciplines; what we call #consilience.

The best part? We know it works.

You can read just about any article today and see some semblance of the same idea taking shape. Here it is, distilled to its core elements, with many variations on the theme.

Here's my take on the key elements:

1) Social distancing (#FlattenTheCurve)
Maintain aggressive social for a few weeks so we: a) don’t overwhelm our healthcare system, b) get a sense of how big that first wave is, and c) buy ourselves time to activate all other areas,

Growth rate is key during a disease outbreak. The rate of growth in the the total confirmed #cases in #Canada seems to be showing signs of slowing and pulling away from the continued steep trend line seen, for example, in the United States (Green). #COVID19 #coronavirus 1/25
This is a +ve sign, but still very early to tell, esp. with an est. 1M+ #Canadians having just returned from travel, and #COVID-19 #testing only targeting >severe cases (due to rationing & backlog in lab testing), we don’t have a good grasp on the level of community spread. 2/25
The number of total cases is what we want to know, but the true number of these is not known. Not by us epidemiologists, nor by any other research, governmental or reporting institution. 3/25

1/n @juliettekayyem and I connected on this this morning. We both had the same reaction. (She has the ability to sum it up in one tweet; for me, it's a thread...)

On…more alignment (but presented as contrarian)

(continued)

Today I noticed in uptick in what is presented as contrarian view to how we should approach this, along lines of ‘our reaction to this is worse than the virus itself.’ Then what is presented is the same approach of other experts, just packaged up as being a ‘new’ solution.

I’ll take Thomas Friedman’s op-ed in NYT today as the example.

He opens by saying this doesn’t have to be months; that it can and should be weeks. It sounds like he has stumbled onto a new path forward. But when you read the article, he says the *exact* same as others:

Thread on Logistics. The Quid pro quo for us sheltering in place is that US surges resources to states based on need to flatten curve. It is why the #DefenseProductionAct is necessary, and the failure to strategically organize logistics is deadly for states. 1/ #surge
I sound like a broken record, but this is the easy part. It's not frontline stuff, saving a life, or science stuff like finding a vaccine. It's moving or manufacturing stuff from point A and getting it to point B. It's logistics. We know how to do this. We have laws to help. 2/
Today, FEMA director said he didn't know how many masks were available or being delivered. It's basic inventory stuff; should have been figured out weeks ago. Then, you determine where there are gaps and compel companies to make them. Again, simple.

This thread lists some features of @TPP_SystmOne that supports #covid-19 preparedness.
Summary:
offsite working,
record sharing,
new Airmid app and
EPRCore.
1. company actions to minimise possibility of service interruption - see separate thread that I'll post tomorrow
2. ensure @TPP_SystmOne access wherever it is needed. Most users know that #S1 can be used mobile and at home. Many CCGs/CSUs offer HSCN access solutions or remote desktop access - so maximise preparation for home working using #S1. No complex install.
if you are considering how non GP staff are going to support your provision from home get @TPP_SystmOne installed and connected for them.

(1/n) @KhataBook 's humble journey started in 2016 in a small Electrical shop in the tiny town of Degloor, Nanded district, Maharashtra.

Vaibhav saw his father struggle keeping track of pending receivables of customers and decided to do something about it.
He learned Android from Udacity and built India's first cash management Android app, KhataBook, while helping his father run the shop.

He iterated the design till his father was comfortable with the interface and released it on playstore in October 2016.
The app had no backend, very basic front end but was built with first principles and had product market fit.

Meanwhile, at Kyte we had been thinking for sometime to account for cash transactions, as the "Bharat" coming online wasn't really doing digital transactions.
