This is the sort of inconsistency that's going to come and bite the UK Government

Wednesday: sure, a couple of thousand football fans from Madrid are welcome at a Champions League game in Liverpool

Friday: don't go to Madrid

And to those people going to me "well, things change" - yes, they do. And that therefore *also* needs a consistent response, and explanations of why changes are made. FWIW warning against travel to Madrid is the sensible call IMHO, while the game going ahead Wednesday wasn't.
Also we *knew* before the fans came to Madrid that Arsenal players had potentially got the virus a week before when playing Olympiacos. It wasn't as if the danger was not known before Wednesday.
