Election Day so far: 5/8 election staff are elderly, we were provided with no cleaning supplies, we are missing an ENTIRE blue box (meaning anyone who comes to this precinct cannot vote), we are missing 2 election judges & nobody is answering our calls.
Voters now showing up and we have to explain that we don’t have the supplies for them to vote. Still no cleaning supplies. Off to a great start🙃🙃
Turned away about 20 voters so far, many of them aren’t able to come back at another time #ILPrimary #Elections2020 @JBPritzker @AldTomTunney @DNC @chicagosmayor @nbcchicago @ABC7Chicago
Blue box now over two hours late, I have turned away about 35 people now - including one paramedic who is unable to vote later because of a newly packed day due to coronavirus
Just received cleaning supplies: (for 11 hours worth of voters)
Now over four hours since we were supposed to receive the blue box, and we are being told not to expect it to show up at all.
I’m not even old enough to vote yet but RIP American democracy :) lost around 100 eligible voters already and its only 9:30
Upgraded to 4 bottles of hand sanitizer !!
6 hours since we were supposed to receive voting supplies and still nothing. Five hours ago, we were told the blue box (with all voting supplies) was on its way. Now looking like we may never receive supplies, meaning nobody can vote at this precinct. (Ward 44, precinct 33)
If you’re supposed to vote at ward 44 precinct 33, please DM me your name, number and address (we are reporting these to Election Protection) and go to the 19th district police station @ 850 w Addison where you can cast your vote.
2 hour long wait at 850 W. Addison (where we have to redirect our voters), and still no supplies after 7 hours
10 hours and no voting equipment, we have started to mark down people unable to vote here with tallies instead of with names, phone numbers, and addresses.
Would anyone be willing to send/bring some food&water to the polling place we are redirecting people to? 850 w. Addison st in Chicago. I’m hearing the line is around 3 hrs long, we should try to do everything to keep people in line!!
13 hrs w/out voting equipment. On the left is my precinct (ward 44 precinct 33) & on the right is the precinct we share the polling place with (ward 44 precinct 15) which has had their blue box since last night. 4hr line @ polling plc that we redirect ppl to.
Polls officially closed in IL after 14 hours and not one single person was able to vote at my precinct during those 14 hours. We never ended up receiving any election equipment. @JBPritzker @ChicagoElection @chicagosmayor #ILPrimaries #chicagoelections #VoterSuppression
Thanks everyone for the suggestions!! There are no more voters in line🤗
