1/ It's one thing to use COVID as a pretext to attack Israel, as this @nytimes Op-Ed by Raja Shehadeh does. Cynical, but it's his prerogative.

But for the newspaper to publish the claim that, in the spring of 2002, "normal life continued" in Israel is inexcusable.
2/ The curfew on West Bank towns wasn't in response to normalcy. Terrorists from the West Bank were targeting Jews everywhere. People were afraid to board a bus or enter a restaurant.
3/ A suicide bomber murdered seven young Jewish children and four others as they waited outside a Haredi yeshiva for prayers to end. At a café across town, 11 more were murdered. Five 18-year-old Jews were shot dead in Gush Katif.
4/ A 9-month-old infant was among the dead in a Netanya attack. Seven passengers on a bus were killed by a suicide bomber in the north of Israel. Sixteen Israelis were targeted for death while dining in a Haifa restaurant.
5/ And 30 mostly elderly Jews, including Holocaust survivors, were slaughtered while celebrating Passover in a Netanya hotel.

All of the above were in March 2002 alone, were a fraction of the deadly attacks that month, and were the reason for the curfews in the West Bank.
