I went back to my car and grabbed my med kit and then I sat him down on the grass and I changed every single bandage.
I cut away what I could & soaked the rest of the bandages in saline. I sat there for over 45min carefully peeling every single piece of gauze off his legs. #YYC
After I sprayed antibiotic spray and then let it air dry while it was drying I set her up with enough supplies to change the dressings for the next week.
I carefully bandaged up and wrapped up each wound on his legs and then set them up with a few extra goodies & then went home
You could clearly see the pain on his face. You could see the toll living outside in the elements have taken on him and his body.
Blisters between each toe from wearing too small of shoes, frostbite from not having warm shoes during the past winter. #Outreach#helpinghand#YEG
The look of pure bliss and comfort that was on his face is something I will never ever forget. I also told him that I will come change his bandages every couple of days if he meets me at the same spot
He said “thank you for treating me like a human being. Thank you for simply talking to an old man like me”
He was comforted by something as simple as a change of a bandage. He was crying over the fact that he was given something warm to eat. Something other than a sandwich. #YEG
How far have we fallen as a society to shove others to the side because we don’t want to be reminded of what has gone wrong in the world…what has gone on in this very city today?
How? Please can anyone shed some light on this?
How much worse is this going to get?
How much more homeless are we going to see in this city before something gets done about it?
According to the Current majority sitting Government of Alberta We were supposed to have the greatest Province ever…let’s face it. Alberta has turned to shit.
Alberta was once a place I could be proud to say I was from, not anymore. Moments of happiness are few and far between
We have forgotten our way. Many have forgotten their own humanity…choosing to instead to turn a blind eye to what is going on in this city….in this province…why?
Because it doesn’t affect you? Your family? Your friends?
I bet if you looked hard enough you’d find it… #Hope
So for the next week I will be meeting this gentleman and his girlfriend…I will be changing his bandages…I will be bringing him something warm to eat every time I meet with him…why?
It’s called human decency…people who think what we are doing is wrong should try it sometime
If you can help us purchase supplies to help this gentleman, we and he would greatly appreciate it.
We put him in a hotel room for the night because it had been over 4 months since he slept in a bed that was comfortable enough for his arthritic joints.
We would love it if we could have help paying for a room for him for the next two weeks so he can heal without having to worry about infection setting in and having to sleep in the dirt and debris outside.
The pictures will be posted below ⬇️ know that it took over 45 minutes to peel the socks & bandages away from the wound & know that after we properly bandaged them,he cried tears of relief
We hope to get enough funds come in to him for medical supplies, clothes/food etc & A room at a local motel for the next month so he can heal properly.
A room for a week costs $452.00. Where he is now he has a kitchenette & we will be dropping off a hamper this afternoon! #yyc
What a freaking night last night was. If I feel broken after what I experienced and witnessed last night….what do people who sleep rough and outside feel like?
The reason this is a unique hamper is because the senior gentleman we are helping is terminal and has severe dietary restrictions that have been set by his doctor
We have worked with his doctor to provide what he needs to be comfortable as he possibly can be. #SocialGood#BeGood

Earlier today we were in downtown #yyc handing out water & gatorade and fruit, when we decided to stop & have a break by the Cat Cafe...when we came upon a senior lady rummaging through the city's garbage bins.
We thought she was looking for bottles to turn in for money but we were wrong. She was looking for both bottles & she was also taking food out of the bins & putting it in her cart.
As soon as we saw that we went over to offer her our help.
We went over, asked if we could get her a cold drink & a snack & asked her if she'd like to join us on our break.
She accepted. We went into the coffee shop across from the Cat Cafe (Forgot Name), grabbed some drinks & snacks and sat down in the shade across the street. #Hope
