On the last 24 hours, I had dozens of people message me and ask if they should join the army.

Gentlemen, that is not a question you ask others.
The answer lies within you.

In this thread, I'll try to give you some perspective on the military service.
First of all, ask yourselves - What is the reason that you want to join the army for?

Discipline? Patriotism? Combat experience?

If you read my lessons thread and started to drool about the army life, then let me tell you something. It's far from what you're imagining
Being a soldier is far from the glory you imagine to have.
The life of a soldier SUCKS, this is not a picnic and not an adventure, FAR FROM IT.

If you want to join for purely for selfish reasons, spare yourself the trouble and go do something else.
Nobody is giving you training for free.
Nobody is teaching you how to fight just for nothing.
This isn't an after work discipline class.

There's a point for those training, you're being trained so you could effectively protect your and others' lives, that's all there is.
For a period of time, you'll be in the Bootcamp, where they put discipline in you and forge you into a soldier.

You need to focus on something bigger than you if you wish to endure it.

The length of this phase depends on where you'll serve, the longer it is, the harder it is.
When I joined the army I got drafted to the Special Forces, a unit which its' mission was to gather intelligence behind enemy lines.
Everybody wants to join the special forces, but only a handful of men really finish the training.
We're talking about more than 2 years of hell.
Personally, I was supposed to have a specific role in that unit, so my training phase was supposed to be shorter. I quit after my mom's health heavily degraded by the mere thought of me doing such a dangerous job.
So, I ended up doing a little longer than 6 months of training,
It wasn't fun, it was far from being glorious.
Yes, they forged me into a soldier and disciplined me, but it came with a price.
I was sent to a war a couple of weeks afterward, an experience that fucked me very hard.
Because nothing is free in this world
They trained me for a job, and the job well was done. I paid with sweat and blood and pain 4 every single $$ they invested in my training, and some of my friends paid for it with their lives

Death is an overlooked "side effect" of the army
If all you're after is discipline, then there are easier ways to gain it without putting your life on the line.

Yes, it's harder when nobody is holding you accountable, but it worths more.
That's what we're doing on #FraternityOfExcellence.
If you do choose to join the army, then you have my best of wishes and I hope you'll find there what you are looking for

Don't get me wrong, I don't regret joining the military for a second, but looking back, I could've put those 3 years to a better, less painful use

Good luck
