@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 Great choice!

We import oranges from the EU, mostly Spain & outside EU from Morocco, Tunisia, occasionally Egypt or Israel at 0%. From May to November mostly South Africa, also Peru & Mexico all at 0%.
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 Here's the tariff schedule to check for yourself. trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/trade-tariff/c… … Note all the zeros.
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 That's for today though. Oranges are seasonal the height of the EU season is in March. So here's the same schedule but set to March.

trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/trade-tariff/c…
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 So here's the tariff from March. All those groups with FTAs mostly still 0% but some are not like Egpyt shown here. An important point the Standard Import Value is not the tariff. The tariff is found under the condition's link.
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 Here's an explanation of the Standard Import Value, Produce prices vary daily. So if a tariff is 10% and there's no price per kilo on the invoice the SIV is used to work out how much in Euros 10% is.
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 So clicking on the conditions link to gets you to the tariff.

On the Entry Price System a tariff only applies when the invoice price falls below the figure shown under Requirement. Then the tariff on the right applies.

Note: this is 0% until the price drops to €35.40/100kg
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 So that trigger price is well below the SIV. It would only apply if Egypt were dumping oranges well below the market price. This almost never happens. The 0% for Egypt is because of an FTA.

What about the tariff for countries without an FTA.
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 This is the tariff Brexiters quote. It's 16% plus an additional tariff if the price falls below that trigger price. The trigger price is €35.40 which is well below the 3rd country SIV as it was in March of €60.90/100kg.

But we get next to no oranges fro these countries.
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 Because it all comes in from the EU, from FTA partners and under 0% quotas just like I said.
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 Preferntial quota for Tunisia highlighted here.
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 The order no. for the quota is 091207. Click the link or go to the EU's website to check the details. Doing the latter gives you this page.

The quota is for 39338 tonnes. They have 27102.853 tonnes remaining for when the season starts again October.

ec.europa.eu/taxation_custo…
@FlashForFreedom @BrexitChaos @PoddyG @mckendrigo @jezlash @GoodwinMJ @JuliaHB1 Oh, to finish this up, here's some research to show how the EPS trigger price hardly ever kicks in.

No tariff on Moroccan and Israeli oranges observed during the period researched at all.
