Trump’s rant at WH meeting today even made Bill Shine—disgraced FoxNews exec now head White House PR guy—squirm. He couldn’t sit still, as Trump rattled off his usual ignorant propaganda talking points and self-praise.
“What’s he done for me?”—Trump on Mattis, says he fired him because “I want results.” This rant at WH cabinet meeting is just incredible. It’s like he’s on speed. He just can’t shut up🤐. TV cameras should pan out—to capture the reaction of people in room.
How dumb is Trump? Really really REALLY dumb: "The reason Russia went into Afghanistan was because terrorists were going into Russia. They were right to be there. That's why there's no Soviet Union."

It's a miracle we've survived 2 years of this. Not sure about the next two.
🤦‍♀️Yes, Trump endorsed Russia and others invading sovereign countries today. All that's missing is the "Take my oil, please!" Geopolitical imbecile Trump fulfills every Russian stereotype about America. We worked so hard to regain respect after Bush's debacles. And here we are :(
"Donald Trump stated the reason for the Soviet Union's collapse."

"Mr. Trump endorsed the invasion of Afghanistan"
—Russian press

Kremlin TV is going to have a field day with Trump's latest idiocy on Russia and the USSR. Keep your eye on @JuliaDavisNews tweets. And some wine🍷
🤯😧“Soviet Union” is trending 😨Buffoon 🤡Trump really is making Russia great again—in the worst way.
Where does Trump get his Russian mindset? asks #Maddow. Y’day he did it again—he parroted a Kremlin talking point rewriting history of Russia’s invasion of Afghanistan—something Putin just announced. As I’ve long said, the parallels, even in language, are striking. Hence #puppet.
Here’s the video from tonight's Rachel #Maddow show addressing Trump's strange fluency in Russian propaganda. Where’s he getting Kremlin talking points and why is he parroting them? Inquiring minds want, need to know

Trump’s outrageous glorification of Russia’s invasion of Afghanistan is the same propaganda Putin pushes to whitewash USSR history. How that propaganda is reaching Trump—by which channels, via which persons—is an urgent question, writes @davidfrum theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/… #Maddow
Where’s Trump getting his Russian propaganda talking points? On Montenegro, Belarus, Afghanistan? The sources must be Russian, says @anneapplebaum. I agree. The parallels are just too great and pattern too consistent. #Maddow @maddow
Michael @McFaul: "Where else is Trump getting Kremlin revisionist history than from Russians?" A long-standing Putin project is rewriting Soviet history. This includes rewriting Russia's invasion of Afghanistan. One of many Russian propaganda talking points Trump regularly echoes
Chuck Rosenberg: I don’t mean to be alarmist, but POTUS is echoing directly revisionist Kremlin line on a bunch of things. Mueller and US intelligence officials have to understand this: WHY is the Pres saying what he's saying? Is something being fed to him?
Russia & Ukraine watchers instantly recognized Trump was echoing the Kremlin. Russian propaganda views, language & tactics were unmistakable too. Our alarm was lost in the haze of their hybrid infowar attack. (Comey's other big mistake btw—saying it wasn't warfare.) #Maddow
ICYMI "Reprehensible…Slander…Mockery…Absurd…Cracked…Falsehoods about allies and the Soviets reach a new low." That's how the @WSJ editorial board describe Trump’s revisionist history of Russia's invasion of Afghanistan. Though they fail to ask "why"
wsj.com/articles/trump…
🔥🎯@davidfrum: Is Vladimir Putin another Sean Hannity? Another person w/ whom Trump has conversations that aren’t known to many ppl? Is that how Russian disinformation gets into the Pres’ head? That’s the dark question raised by his parroting Soviet propaganda about Afghanistan.
@davidfrum @brianstelter @FrankBruni @finneyk @ReliableSources .@RepAdamSchiff: Mulvaney may review every document going to Trump. But he doesn't review every phone call…Someone's giving him these ideas on Montenegro, Afghanistan…whispering Russia's point of view into his ear…what's being presented in the Duma (!)
In sum: Americans Left & Right are saying aloud what was unimaginable in 2016, unthinkable in 2017, unavoidable in 2018, and untenable in 2019: The POTUS acts as a witting Kremlin asset—parrots Russian propaganda, won’t stand up for democracy, lacks evident guardrails. Buckle up.
.@MollyMcKew: Putin has focused extensively on rewriting history. This isn’t just reclaiming it to make Russia look better. It’s done to justify current exploits, wars, invasions—by rewriting the past, making it look like modern conflict. Trump often echoes Kremlin justifications
.@NatashaBertrand: There have been reports that Trump has frequent phone calls with Putin, who’s essentially whispering in his ear, “We can be on the same team, I can give you what allies can’t.” We saw it with Turkey. The last person Trump speaks to is often the one he echoes.
