1) Pretty much OK with this.
Some thoughts
Brexit party took all of UKIP seats & some Conservative ones

27 progressive Rainbow alliance MEPs from actual parties against 29 part time chancers who will get bored after their 5 minutes in the Sun is good odds
2) I still think of Labour as a progressive party even if its leader is a stalinist throwback and surely these results will send a message to Labour High command - its time to pick a side and there is only one side for Labour
3) also, some good solid Pro EU Labour MEPs have been reelected

The Tory party will now eat itself, and BxP will inevitably get embroiled in the same scandals that UKIP did
4) the far right populist surge didn't happen, and thats a very important thing.

But one very important point is - we sent 39 Tory/UKIP MEPs to the EU last time, now we're sending 33 vs 37 progressives
5) finally, I don't think we should attack Change UK - they did what they thought was right, and they did shake things up.

Arguably if more Labour and Tory MPs had followed their example they'd have done better, but they're on our side so let's give them their due
6) the fracturing of the Remain vote was bad enough to hopefully create a call to arms without causing significant damage, and there are now 4 authentic party voices with a mandate for Remain who've been successful.
7) and UKIP 2.0 just absorbed UKIP 1.0 and some Tory votes, there is no No Deal surge, just 32% of a core of committed voters that we always knew was there

What we didn't know was that Remain was still so strong, and getting stronger
8) 2 final thoughts
a) the LDs as a "toxic brand" is a busted flush, as is the Greens as a "wasted vote" - both are surging

b) the "silent majority who just want to get on with it" is horseshit - there is no set of remainers "affronted by the lack of respect for democracy"
9) you can't take 60% over a cliff just because 40% of 40% of Voters expressed a preference. And also most people know Brexit is difficult if not impossible
10) there is no mandate for hard no deal Brexit, just a large minority who are too stupid, selfish or rich to know any better and who will follow a chancer because it saves thinking
