I’d like to think I’m a reasonably well-informed consumer of news about the #MigrantPersecutionProtocols and #RemainInMexico

The things I’m learning at #AILAAC19 from advocates appearing in these hearings daily and serving people subjected to these policies are next-level evil.
.@ImmDef reports of regular family separations, and attempted family separations.

Imagine being told to leave your 12 year-old alone in Mexico because ICE didn’t file the Notice to Appear in Court for everyone in your family. Or being told your infant can come but you can’t.
.@taylorklevy discusses a 7 year-old in court bleeding from the head after getting attacked in Mexico. Didn’t get access to a nonrefoulement interview.
.@ImmDef saw an IJ in San Diego tell ICE to consider a clearly mentally ill man for exclusion from the #MigrantPersecutionProtocols. Days later, he was wandering the streets of TJ asking for help. When he got to his next hearing IJ found him incompetent/ordered release in the US.
Kidnappers watch adults being released in Juarez at the bridge after #MigrantPersecutionProtocols process. Ubers and vans pick up people and kidnap them within less than 20 minutes.
And indigenous Guatemalan woman was held by CBP for 27 days in hieleras and tents because they couldn’t find a Quiche interpreter. She was offered a shower ONCE. They ultimately excluded her from the program when they couldn’t find someone to translate.
A group of 80+ migrants held for weeks in a facility designed for 35. Many pregnant women. When the releases finally happen, CBP returned 8 of them to Juarez under the #MigrantPersecutionProtocols
This is, like, 1/10 of what I learned this am.
