1. The number of atrocities Kurds have endured historically is the direct result of being stateless. The call for a federal system, Abdullah Öcalan's original sin, can no longer be ignored. Turkey must leave Syria to Syrians, including the Kurds, to make their own future.
2. And the Shia in Syria's west need to reach out to secular Kurds, Arabs and Assyrians in control of the east to move towards ending the bloodshed in Idlib and Afrin. But that can only come when all Syrians and their supporters demand and force Turkey to leave Syria.
3. A democratic federal system is the solution. It's worked in our diverse nation for all but five of 230 years. Syria's civil war has lasted twice as long as ours did & with no system capable of dealing with Syria's structural political defects it's likely to go for another ten.
