GIDC propaganda buster thread:

1-Gas Infrastructure Development Cese (GIDC) was announced in 2011 by Zardari government to collect extra tax/fee for Iran-Pakistan Gas pipeline.

2-CNG station owners, businessmen and other traders went to court and got a stay order

3-CNG stations never collected this from public, others did in fear that one day they will lose the case and have to pay back.

4-2015 High Court announced it in the favor of businessman and government lost the case.

5-It is still under review in SC and so far govt

had not received a single paisa.

6-Over the course of 8 years, it is estimated that businessmen are supposed to pay RS 700 Billion

7-Govt strikes a deal to get RS 400 Billion (instead of 0 RS) in return to end the fee by law and withdraw the case.

8-The case can prolong for another 10 years with no significant outcome.

9-Its a win-win for both govt and businesses, govt gets the much needed cash while businesses will get a tax relief and cash to enhance their production capacity

10-We do have tax free industrial zones

Around the country where no tax is collected for the first 5 years, to kick start the process. Consider this the same scenario.

11-All media channels/whatsapp groups are telling half truth, businesses do got a 300 Billion relief, but they are paying 400 Billion

12- The case was already decided by the courts in favor of businessman, it is under review and most probably govt will lose the appeal too.

13- In case govt loses the case, it will get 0 RS and then all these so called analysts will say govt should have struck the deal.

14- The moral of the story is, don't get buy into the propaganda. The critics will never be happy. One way or the other, they will find something to criticize upon, otherwise they will lose their jobs.

I think the current decision is in best possible interest of Pakistan!!
