My understanding: Giuliani called Trump & demanded the recall of excellent US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch as she stood up against corruption (just like Biden in 2015-16), weakening Giuliani's ally Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, who was prepared to invent dirt on Bidens.
Note that all Giuliani's known clients & contacts in Ukraine are identified with organized crime. Giuliani works for corruption abroad for big money & uses his access to Trump as a big source of income. He should be investigated & prosecuted rather than listened to.
Neither Pompeo nor the State Department appear to have played any significant role in the Giuliani affair in Ukraine. Giuliani seemed to liaise directly with Trump. Pompeo should speak up and clarify to what extent he was involved. Otherwise he may sink with Giuliani.
