So *if* the Liberal Democrats and Labour were to find some sort of accommodation as to where to stand down their candidates... this is how they should do it:
jonworth.eu/if-you-wanted-…
There are three sorts of constituencies where this would make sense:
1️⃣ easy two way marginals
2️⃣ complicated three way marginals

1️⃣ easy two way marginals

These are places where 2 parties come close to winning the seat, and the third party is miles behind and should stand down
Taking the top 15 Tory target seats, and the top 15 Tory defence seats, and eliminating complex cases, you get these places where Lib Dems ought to stand down:
Dudley North
Newcastle-under-Lyme
Crewe and Nantwich
Canterbury (as @ThatTimWalker has)
Barrow and Furness
Keighley
cont.

Stroud
Bishop Auckland
Southampton Itchen
Pudsey
Hastings and Rye
Chipping Barnet
Thurrock
Calder Valley
Norwich North
Stoke-on-Trent South
Telford
Bolton West
It makes electoral sense for Labour to stand down in:
Oxford West and Abingdon
Westmorland and Lonsdale
Richmond Park
St Ives
2️⃣ complicated three way marginals

These are probably best not touched - either Labour *or* Lib Dems could benefit from a pact in e.g. Wimbledon, Wantage, Truro & Falmouth, Kensington - but good luck trying to broker that!

Unlikely to work, but worth a go?

Labour stand down in
Wokingham (John Redwood)
Esher & Walton (Dominic Raab)
NE Somerset (Jacob Rees Mogg)

Lib Dems stand down in
Uxbridge & South Ruislip (Boris Johnson)
Chingford and Woodford Green (Iain Duncan Smith)
Anyway it looks like - despite @ThatTimWalker & @GuyKiddey expressing their concerns about the Lib Dem approach here, I fear the party is not going to do the ethically right thing and stand down, but fight all of these 😡
