So @BorisJohnson has kept his promise to @Nigel_Farage. Manifesto pledge is harder than his original Twitter video aimed at Farage. Says: ”We will not extend the implementation period beyond December 2020.” The black and white of the manifesto does matter more 1/2
Question now is: will Johnson break this manifesto pledge or leave transition with no deal in very likely event that trade agreement is not struck by Dec 2020. He could argue in Parliament that he has a mandate for this if he wins a majority (for which we're at 45%, & rising) 2/3
Our basecase is still a 1yr extension to the transition, that will come at the very last minute next June. But we'll all probably have to go round the no deal circle all over again in the first half of next year 3/3

Without any real Cabinet discussion, @BorisJohnson has committed himself to a “super Canada plus” FTA with the EU “not based on any kind of political alignment” and promised not to extend the transition period beyond Dec 2020. Are these now hard constraints? 1/
Yes & no. These pledges were designed to persuade @Nigel_Farage to stand down his Brexit Party candidates but were only partially successful. Farage now hopes to land some Labour-held seats so his party holds balance of power in hung parliament to “keep Boris honest” on Brexit 2/

But the #LibDems can't #RevokeArticle50 unless they win the election. In 2017 they won 12 seats. They need 326 MPs to win. How many do they need to claim a mandate to #Revoke?
Maybe the #LibDems can form a minority government?
Could a minority government #RevokeArticle50? Even for that the #LibDems would need at least 200 seats. And what other parties would they then need for success? The #SNP might vote to #RevokeArticle50, but would they be enough?

Labour's not going to win the election, but the winning zone for remain would be if Labour gets 230.
If labour don't fall below that, it might be alright. If they do, it's all fucked.
I'm not thinking of Labour being able to form an actual government. Certainly not with Corbyn.
There's still a way to go stop Brexit itself. One step at a time. And the next step is to prevent the Tories forming a government
What happens if the Tories can't form a government is Johnson resigns. And as soon as they do that they will change their policy to a referendum.

Whatever happens longer-term at least lending the @LibDems votes is more likely to keep 1/2
2/2 us in the #EU. We can sort the longer-term once the #Tories are dead and #Labour is rescued from its current anti-#EU extremist cabal.

But, for now, Job #1 is to keep ouselves in. Otherwise forget the "long-term".
