A history of gun control in the USA:

-1790s-1870s: No meaningful gun control exists- it is understood to be not only legally proper but functionally necessary for the population to be armed with military arms, to maximize manpower and stave off invasion and tyranny.

1/3
-1876: KKK and similar groups realize jim crow won't be possible to implement without disarming freed blacks and they use a federal court to try and argue that the 2nd amendment doesn't guarantee civilian firearm ownership but rather state-licensed militias (Kruikshank.)

2/3
-2010: Kruikshank overturned by Mcdonald v. Chicago which also extends the second amendment to states and nullifies all existing anti-constitution laws and ordinances thereby. Challenges to same unlawful laws ongoing.
