In Korea, as far as I studied... Well, it's more complicated.
The classic and more ancient method of divination consists in asking to a shaman (called mudang if female and baksu if male, depending on region). Then a rite (kut 굿) is arranged.
Usually once pay the shaman by nature in order to provide materials to the rite.

Here I'm talking about modern shamanism ( 무교 巫教,무속 巫俗).

Daoist-based methods exist too, but they are performed by non-elective shamans
Non-elective shamans (I.e. those who don't "ear the call" to become shaman) come to be a thing during urbanization in middle-Silla Dynasty era. They could not be called "false" shamans: infact, they too are possessed by gods and spirit during foretellings.
In ancient times, and I mean Silla Dynasty, we know by historic texts and archaeological sources there was a sorta hotpot of daoist and buddhist-inspired methods. That is pretty logical if we consider Silla adoption of buddhism as State religion.
During Joseon, btw, daoist one was prevalent among literati.
That absolutely doesn't mean shamanic methods died, they were just used in countryside (with some famous exceptions during the last part of the XVII-XVIII century).
Modern shamanism in Korea is tho a derivation of ancestral practices, buddhism and daoism. Likely born during Unified Silla-Goryeo period, if we assume the clues in the shamanic songs tell the true.

So, yes. It's really complicated.
