When election results came on Dec 11, 2018
BJP was 109, INC was 114

BJP needed just 3 MLAs from Congress to turn the tables.
There was a huge discussion by people who matter whether Shivraj should attempt that.

As somebody who was heading the communications of that election, I was privy to the deliberations. Shivraj ji refused to entertain the idea.

Other ministers kept insisting that they will manage to get the numbers.
At 2.30 am, we retired.
The enthusiastic folks went to work.

Before they woke up next day and got working, Shivraj ji announced he is going to tender his resignation. Huge hue and cry erupted.

But Shivraj is made of a different moral fibre.
He went ahead with his resignation. We were at the CM house that day, grieving the slim loss..

When we came to know that Kamalnath was coming over for a courtesy call to CM house.

While KN and SSC had a courtesy meeting on the 1st floor and we waited on the ground floor, we came to know that 2 INC MLAs were waiting in the next room.

Brought over by an ex minister.

We got very excited that there is still a way to crack the numbers.

But Shivraj ji refused.
Met the MLAs, refused to accept a deal and wished them good luck.

The govt changed.

Today, looking at KN clutching at the straws of his going govt, I am reminded of the day.

What MP lost that day was a leader of moral fibre.

And gained a leader of Sanjay Gandhi genetics.

He will go to any extent to save his govt. And thats the difference between KN and SSC.
