THREAD: 1/n. I have a self-quarantined central #Ohio client who was on the #CarnivalValor cruise with this man. I believe that our #Columbus community needs to know of her experience with #Carnival and @OHdeptofhealth.

I will be updating this thread as I find out more.
2/ My client is female, between 45-50 years old. Before I continue, people should know that she has been in public places in central #Ohio for days. She found out from a friend this morning who had seen this morning's @ColumbusHealth #COVID19 announcement. Places she's been:
3/ Sunday March 9th: @Costco at #Polaris; #Costco in #PlainCity; #Aldi in #Delaware.

Wed. March 12th, after work: @TommysPizzaOhio but not yet sure which location.

The 2019 APhA Midyear Regional Meeting for Region 4 begins tomorrow night in Columbus, Ohio! This is an annual meetup for student pharmacists in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
Last year, I attended all three days of the meeting in Madison, Wisconsin. It's closer to Detroit this time, but my schedule is much tighter this year and unfortunately doesn't line up with the student carpool.

Know what that means? It's time for some transit planning. Thread!
A large part of these meetings is networking and exploring a new city.

Last year, we were in a hotel right off a highway about seven miles from Capitol Square. That was an adventure best had by car.

This year, we're in the very center of downtown Columbus. Different story. Google Earth image of Madison Marriott West off US Highway 14Google Earth image of Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel and the surrounding buildings

Teachers, Parents and all other peoples! Lend me your ears!

If anyone ever shrugs off the murdering, raping, starving, pillaging and enslaving actions of #ChristopherColumbus as "it was the times", I want you to tell them about a man named Father Bartolomé de Las Casas.
#THREAD
Father Bartolomé de Las Casas, the contemporary 16th century historian, *initially* believed #Columbus had been divinely inspired to make the "discovery".

He was a man of the cloth THAT WAS PRESENT WITH CHRIS ON THE LAND OF THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE.

And he wrote about it all.
The next time anyone excuses, "explains", justifies, lies or miseducates you or your children by saying,...

"Welp. He didn't know better."

"That's just what they did back then."

"You can't judge 1492 #ChristopherColumbus by our present day standards"

...read Father Las Casas.

Happy #IndigenousPeoplesDay and a full throated condemnation of #ColumbusDay, the worst holiday in the United States and a celebration of apocalypticism, genocide, slavery, torture, embezzlement, and unremitting brutality, all in the name of Spanish Catholicism and bad math.
On the most basic level, #ChristopherColumbus was a bad person with bad ideas who engaged in bad actions on both a micro and macro scale, and celebrating him as a human being is wrong. Celebrating his achievements? ALSO WRONG.
#ColumbusDay is somehow taught to kids in the US as a celebration of an individual who thought the world was round when everyone else thought it was flat--anyone else remember that crap?--which is complete garbage. No one thought the world was flat. No one.

Thread on The TRUTH about #ChristopherColumbus and #ColumbusDay -

After Reading and Watching this...Ask Yourself, "Is This Someone That Deserves to be Celebrated?"

newsmaven.io/indiancountryt…
These Are COLUMBUS' OWN WORDS, NOT MINE:

“As soon as I arrived in the Indies, on the first Island which I found, I took some of the natives by force in order that they might learn and might give me information of whatever there is in these parts.”
Upon Arrival, Columbus Said:

“They willingly traded everything they owned…They do not bear arms, They would make fine servants…. With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.”

This Tone, Then Changes...

Just got off a @ColumbusCrewSC conference call with Anthony Precourt. A lot of tough Qs for the owner from the Ohio media. Naturally. And...
Mood seems really dour for Columbus. Barring some miracle, it's hard to picture this #MLS team staying. Seems like train has left station
Precourt spoke very excitedly about #Austin and cast considerable doubt on viability of #Columbus.
