Private schools that take public money should be subject to accreditation and standards just like colleges and universities that take Pell Grants and childcare centers that take Head Start.

For context, I did not live with my parents in HS, but state law reqād me to attend the school in their district, which was on the other side of town. If I didnāt lie, I had no way to get to school and would instead have ended up a HS dropout.
Many kids in my circumstances would have chosen the path of least resistance and dropped out. But I had bigger plans for my future. Not all kids have that kind of drive.
