The first story I wrote that got major international attention, and even ended up covered on the front page of the New York Times wasn't an anti-Russian screed, but exposing Saudi arms smuggling to Syrian rebel groups theguardian.com/world/2013/mar…
My next major story was on the August 21st 2013 Sarin attacks in Damascus, which resulted in a lengthy November 2013 New Yorker profile, so claiming I became a "icon of independent journalism' practically overnight" hardly rings true newyorker.com/magazine/2013/…
MH17 was obviously the biggest story Bellingcat worked on until the Skripal case, but again, that was hardly something that happened overnight newsweek.com/2015/07/03/mee…
Hopefully that helps @RussianEmbassy to keep away from dark mutterings about Bellingcat and spreading any more conspiracy theories, but if that doesn't help there's also a feature length documentary coming out next month with multiple Bellingcat members followed over a year.
