@CharlieFink Simon Wardley talks about technology diffusion that goes from academic idea to bespoke enterprise apps to consumer apps to mass ubiquity.
Medical, Health & Wellness, Enterprise, & phone-based AR ad gigs will subsidize VR devs until they can do entertainment/gaming VR full time.
@CharlieFink I cover VR/AR through a philosophical lens about the potential use cases. It's the industry's job to make it a pragmatic reality. They're not marketing the immersive exercise revolution that's happening, & there will be lots of first-time users of VR through training or medicine.
@CharlieFink I also take a human-centered design approach. The cartography of contexts I laid out above shows how immersive tech of VR/AR will be impacting every single one of these domains. I stand by that each of these domains will eventually have consumer apps, & that no one knows when.
@CharlieFink Gartner didn't plot VR on their emerging tech hype cycle curve because it's matured beyond the trough of disillusionment.
Why does "value proposition" == "sales figures"?
Hype = Marketing Story & Platonic Ideal Form & Realm of Potential
Trough = Pragmatic reality of sales figures
