1/ Here’s the transcribed Trump quote from last night. If you’ve been reading my TL, this is what I’ve been explaining. The firing of Comey launched a sting on McCabe who predictably did what they expected and opened inappropriate investigations against POTUS.

2/ I want you to take notice that Trump names exactly who “did it” and he does not mention Rosenstein. The reality that there was a sting run by DOJ, where McCabe was the target triggered by Rosenstein’s letter and Comey’s firing, is now nearly impossible to deny.

3/ The investigation targeting McCabe would’ve been viewed as obstruction if McCabe would’ve continued as the head of the investigations that he launched after Comey’s firing. There was only one way to pull the plug on McCabe and avoid obstruction claims.

Appoint Mueller.

4/ I won’t go into it all again here. You can read other threads I’ve written on it but Mueller’s job is to distinguish truth from fiction. Trump knows he didn’t collude and he knows he didn’t obstruct so what he wanted from Mueller was the truth.

5/ Go watch Trump’s interview with Lester Holt on 5/11/17. This was two days after Comey was fired, the same day McCabe testified in front of the Senate and 6 days before Mueller is appointed. Trump knows the firing will extend the Russia investigation but it must be done right!

6/ There have been two tracks. The DOJ/FBI corruption investigation and the Trump Russia investigation. Trump wants BOTH. He wants a #CleanBillOfHealth AND he wants his AG to launch #Phase2, the prosecution of corruption up to and including the abuse of power coup attempt.

7/ McCabe knows what’s coming. This is why you see these attempts to spin in the NYT. His defense will be that he was being a patriot when in reality he had become far worse than Hoover, a madman drunk with the power of his office who thought he was more important than democracy.

8/ Who can testify to what happened, understands the decisions that were made and what actually motivated them? Rosenstein. A man that was confirmed by a vote of 94-6 in the Trump era at the height of the Resistance.
