HUGE ERROR in mega @nytimes story everyone is reading.

On the left, the NYT today: nytimes.com/2019/02/19/us/…

On the right, the NYT on 1/5/18: nytimes.com/2018/01/05/bus…

How is being the lawyer for *Deutsche Bank* consistent with being a "career prosecutor"????
"Longtime prosecutor" woulda been technically accurate, although obviously Deutsche Bank past should still be mentioned.

But "career prosecutor" does not track. (1/2)
Especially since he spent 5 years at Kirkland & Ellis, which maintains a unique pipeline to Trump Administration: projects.propublica.org/trump-town/org… (Kirkland was also a huge source for right wing agitation in 1990s, when both Ken Starr & Brett Kavanaugh were partners there)
From 2002-2017, he spent 11-12 years at either corrupt Deutsche Bank or Republican go to law firm Kirkland & Ellis -- there is no world in which he is a "career prosecutor." This demands a correction from the @nytimes
To be clear -- If Berman were recused and *an apolitical career prospecutor* were in charge of investigating Trump World, I wouldn't be nearly as concerned. But that is VERY much not the case, and the panic I express in this @Slate piece remains operative: slate.com/news-and-polit…
Here are some pieces by @eisingerj of interest to those wondering about Robert Khuzami at the SEC (his stint between Deutsche Bank and Kirkland & Ellis): dealbook.nytimes.com/2014/10/22/in-…

and propublica.org/article/why-ha… and dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/12/14/in-…
To reiterate: Khuzami was hired by Trump guy Berman directly AND *outside* the civil service process: justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/m…

I believe Khuzami from 1983 to January 2018 spent ~11 years at law firms, ~7 at Deutsche Bank, 11 at SDNY, & 4 at SEC. That is NOT a career prosecutor.
This new blog of mine explains why Khuzami is a worrisome figure and the @nytimes characterization very wrong: cepr.net/blogs/cepr-blo…
