Re-upping this thread. After thinking about this more, it’s even more clear that Snowden’s only goal was to commit espionage on behalf of Russia. He worked for a federal contractor, Booze Allen. They receive federal funds. If he was a legitimate whistleblower, he could have 1/
retained counsel and instituted a Qui Tam claim against them for committing fraud and violating US law. He would’ve been able to bring significant public attention to their activities and obtained a potentially substantial award, 7-8 figures, for doing so. This would’ve 2/
achieved his supposed goal of being a civil rights and social justice warrior on behalf of all Americans.Instead, fled to China, then Russia, our strategic adversaries and two of the most repressive regimes in the world where freedom and human rights are treated as an anathema 3/
