So, it's nearly 20.00. We're 16 councils shy of the finishing line, but let's take stock. /THREAD 
Okay, let's put this in perspective and not get too carried away. The Tories have got away without a council mauling for many years, partly because anger at the LDs protected them during the Coalition. They did really well in these seats in 2015. Their luck just ran out.
That said, this is (1) an epic beating for the Tories in their own heartlands, (2) puts the #LibDems at least back on the map, and (3) was a pathetic, almost farcical parp from 'Labour'.
Vote share. On a national corrected basis, Lab failed to even beat a govt that doesn't actually exist. Let me say that again. Tories didn't lose. That's right - the party that has failed to deliver its overarching reason for being, and which doesn't have any domestic policies.
The vote went everywhere. Greens, well done. The Yorkshire Party. Even UKIP. A blowout for the two main parties everywhere.
Why? Well. To some extent many, many voters have just had enough. I have received accounts of Lab voters nearly in tears, saying 'just can't back them any more'. Many Brexity Tories see 'their' party as hopeless.
It's not just Brexit. Why should voters go along with Richard Burgon and Barry Gardiner - BARRY GARDINER, for God's sake - versus Karen Bradley and Chris Grayling? CHRIS GRAYLING, for crying out loud.
The PM and the Cabinet, and the LOTO and the Shadow Cabinet, have failed. It's as simple as that. Short of breaking into your house and leaving a poo in your fridge, it's hard to guess at how much more disrespect the Big Two could show to voters.
Tezza versus Jezza? Two bald men who not only don't have a comb, but also need to buy a mirror, and by the way don't have bedside tables to put them on anyway. And haven't insralled any lights. And have never even seen what a haircut looks like. Don't make me laugh.
Almost every MP can see this. The two main parties got away with it in 2017, cos their cultural tribe couldn't bear the thought of the other lot in charge. Looks like they're now on a big warning. Shape up, or the voters will do it for you.
A few MPs have broken ranks to start telling the truth about all this in recent days. Sheer embarrassment, or sense of Emperor's New Clothes, should and probably will compel others to speak up from now on. Let's hear you!
EU elections will give this a further shove. Big Two now risk being routed cos everyone can see what to do - get hold of the nearest likely party to hurt them.
Bottom line - we can't go on like this. And we shouldn't. And unless the parties somehow sort themselves out, in the end we won't. Sort it, or leave the stage. /END
