1. Interesting piece from China's People's Daily that discusses the growing problem of skyscraper window accidents in China using the NYC building regulations as a way educate folks to avoid them. As someone who has studied China for much of their life, I find this encouraging.
2. And fun fact: My parents lived in the only Chinese skyscraper in 1947-1949. Broadway Mansions. That's not my mom. But that's the view from their apartment. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadway_…
3. Many other foreign war correspondents lived there during the Civil War. 解放前. Because my folks had the apartment at the top near the foreign correspondents' club, my mother had the key to the liquor cabinet. Being Irish had nothing to do it. 😎
4. My dad was one of few correspondents who covered the front. Most, like the French and Russians, stayed in Shanghai. AFP always met my dad when his Flying Tigers Central Air Transport plane landed after a visit to the front. Think that one is C-46 Commando but defer to others.
