1)Upcoming elections in #Turkey are extremely important as the process and outcome would push Turkey one step closer to a possible civil war in future. Elections will be held on Sunday with a newly introduced system allowing parties to form alliance for mayoral position. THREAD

Erdogan's AKP and MHP have joint candidates in 51 cities. Their block is known as "Cumhur İttifakı (People's Alliance) and have the support of some small parties.

Main opposition party, @herkesicinCHP has formed an alliance with @iyiparti to have joint candidates in 51 cities. The block is known as Millet İttifakı(Nation Alliance).

2) Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT), led by a pro-Iranian Islamist figure Hakan Fidan, delivered hundreds of thousands of dollars to the al-Shabab terrorist organization in Somalia through a former Gitmo detainee.
3) The transfer of the funds was picked up by the US government, which alerted Turkish authorities and asked for an investigation into the network that enabled the funding of al-Shabab.

Guardianship Commission called to order. Justice Hardesty thanking Sharon Coates for admin support, Dania Reid and John Michaelson regarding the rules, Hank Cavallera and myself for mediation materials, & Mallory Nelson and Riley Wilson for reporting data. Roll called as well.
Hearing from Mallory Nelson at the 2nd Judicial District Court about latest Guardianship reporting numbers. Under age 30 represents over 30% of the caseload which is concerning and highlights the need for Supported Decision Making efforts as children near age 18.
Questions being asked about the "court appointed attorney not defined" statistic - response is that Washoe Legal is appointed in a broad way and then the specific attorney appears so that would account for that data point. Questions also about restoration of capacity data.

I'm surprised not reading any analysis yet on the link between the electoral victory of Turkish nationalist MHP and the issue of Syrian refugees.

A potential post-election driving wedge between Erdogan and MHP is the future of 3.5 Syrian refugees.

In post-election victory speech, with an understanding heightened resentment against the refugees, Erdogan repeated that they will be relocated back to Syria. Despite rhetoric, however, Erdogan will face tough challenges to send millions of refugees back to insecure #Syria.
Turkish economy has already absorbed the refugees as cheap labor—a reality that drives higher unemployment rates among Turks, increasing public anxiety. Turkish government may even face a bigger problem if Damascus assaults Idlib to push 2 million civilians into Turkey’s borders.
